Gloucester's James Simpson-Daniel believes a physical encounter is in store for the Saxons this Saturday as they prepare to face Canada .

At their first training session in New Jersey the Saxons put their plans in place ready for their Churchill Cup final and Simpson-Daniel is fully aware of Canada's potential.

"It's going to be a very physical match. They proved that the other day against France A, they put a real good squeeze on France and took their opportunities to score some really good tries." said Simpson-Daniel.

"It may have been a surprise to some people but we watched the first half of that match and they were very impressive."

Yesterday was the Saxons first full day in New Jersey and they wasted no time in hitting the training field to prepare.

Simpson-Daniel said, "Our first training session went very well. The boys got to have a blow out after travelling from Denver and we got to put a little bit more of our shape together ready for the last game."

With a Test career spanning from 2002-2007 Simpson-Daniel is no stranger to the fast pace of international rugby. He knows that Saturday is the Saxons opportunity to put a marker down for senior selection.

"It's great to be through to the final and it's a great for the players here. Some guys missed out on the senior tour to Australia and for some this is their first tour so it means a lot to all of us and if we can get the right result on Saturday it will be fantastic."
