Martin Johnson has admitted that losing to the New Zealand Maori will "rankle for a while" after England led at half time but let NZ Maoris back into the match.

But despite Wednesday's 35-28 loss, the England Team Manager told today's RFU Podcast that the bigger picture is much better news.

"Looking back at the whole trip, I know now that there has been so many more positives than negatives," he said.

England played the Australian Barbarians twice beating them once and drawing once. England also played two matches against the Wallabies and won the second.

"A lot of guys have come through, we've found so many good players who are ready now or who will be ready very soon. And that's what we were there for. " Johnson pointed out.

"You learn about things when you win games like the second Test against Australia; well you learn about things when you lose games like last night too."
